Progressive side bets: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker regularly contain one of these. You usually place a bet (a dollar is the normal amt.) to attempt to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of $25,000. Though huge jackpots like these are very alluring, they’re also incredibly complicated to succeed. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this wager. Also, imagine this- you play 20 hands and lay the side wager each time. That’s twenty dollars you could have used towards the actual game bet in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a bet with more favorable odds utilizing that $20.
Individual number bets in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only 1. This takes the complete house edge from two% with one zero wheel to a huge 5% in American. The one number wager has only a one in 38 chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets alternately which have a much lower casino edge.
Keno: Any variation of Keno, and regardless of how you gamble on it, the house edge can be a huge 25%. No, that is not a typo. Because of the large amount of numbers you have to select, it isn’t advisable to gamble on Keno very much. A number of times for entertainment, maybe. But don’t spend all your cash on it or you’ll quickly discover yourself bankrupt.
